Arresting, starry-eyed, and above all, creative - Joshua Carswell’s music takes the pop song script and turns it inside out.
A Nashville-based artist with ten years of touring and numerous vocal awards including “The American Traditions” Competition to his credit, Joshua is one of the best vocalists in America.
Now on his newest album, Innerspace, he is debuting an explosion of original creativity, music that lifts off with all the sangfroid of a 1960s astronaut. Each song packs a punch from the Shakespearean “Juliette” to the earth- pounding “Jericho”.
“A lot of my songs are drawn from personal experience,” says Carswell. “I want to give the audience an emotional catharsis. It’s the thing I love most about music: it’s ability to unlock the heart.”
Carswell’s voice is suited to the task. Agile but powerful, his tenor voice glides effortlessly through the titanic melodies he writes. But underneath the pop aura and sonic self-assurance, the album reflects vulnerability - a desire to reach into the lives of others and be a beacon, a north star.
“I want my listeners to have a good time. But I also want them to see themselves in these songs,” says Carswell. “Our world needs hope.”
Innerspace will be released in Fall 2022.
